Plaza Del Sol In Gresham

Just on the outskirts of Portland, in Gresham’s Rockwood Neighborhood, you can find Plaza Del Sol.
A colorful public display of art in the form of a scale model of the solar system.

The public artwork is to scale and according to the Wilkes East Neighborhood Association, Mars is painted with pieces of a martian meteorite that fell to Earth(they don’t necessarily say from Mars) and the moon was painted with pieces of lunar meteorite.

There was a Fred Meyer’s here, but it closed down in 2001. The city of Gresham bought the space for redevelopment in 2005. The park was painted in 2009 and repainted in 2014. It is a place for community events to this date.
